Electric Vehicle Steps : Step Catalogue : AVS Steps

AVS Steps, the world’s largest automotive step specialist, has enrolled the help of the Guinness Book of Records’ World’s Fittest Athlete, Paddy Doyle, to demonstrate the quality and endurance of its products being showcased at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show.

Paddy Doyle, who to date has achieved a career total of 159 fitness, boxing, martial arts and endurance records and currently holds 82 World Records, will be present on AVS Steps’ stand on the first day of the show demonstrating the strength and endurance of the company’s new EX cassette step range. Visitors to the stand will be able to witness Paddy attempt to equal his current World Record of 100 step-ups wearing a 40lb (3 stone) back pack in five minutes. Paddy will have three attempts during the day to achieve this record. In between the main events, Paddy will also be demonstrating tricep dips and press-ups using an EX step, and speaking to visitors about his career and achievements.

Keith Clarke, managing director, AVS Steps, said: “We have invited Paddy to inject some energy and fun into the exhibition. We are also very serious about the message that we are conveying about the robust and durable nature of our EX step range.”

“We recognise that vehicle steps are not always foremost in people’s mind, so with this being the first time that AVS has exhibited at the CV Show, our aim is to create an exciting buzz around the stand. We believe Paddy can help us achieve this with the step-up challenges, whilst enforcing the point that the EX range is a quality product that is tough enough to withstand day to day usage in any environment.”

“In fact all of our steps are tested by applying 80 stone (508 kilos) 50,000 times and 35 stone (222 kilos) times on a specially designed test rig, so the World’s Fittest Athlete performing remarkable fitness feats wearing a 40lb bag pack should have no problem!”

At the CV Show, AVS Steps will also be showcasing its SL Series of slim-line steps, and launching a new step that been specifically designed to meet the health and safety needs of the workplace market. “Steps are perceived for just being for the mobility market, but this is simply not the case, we have many utility companies now specifying our steps to address serious health and safety issues for their employees,” concluded Keith.

With over 20 years’ experience, AVS Steps is the World’s largest supplier of automotive steps. First and foremost AVS Steps is a specialist in the design and manufacture of steps, and its product range includes electric and foot operated steps for commercial and utility vehicles, taxis, minibuses, ambulances, and other accessible vehicles including individual mobility vehicles. However, a growing need for improved ground clearance on smaller vehicles has led to the development of a range of cantilever steps and very slim cassette steps.

Committed to quality, the company undertakes the most comprehensive range of testing procedures in the industry to ensure its steps meet and exceed all legal requirements, and most importantly meet customers’ demands.
